- שַׁתְקָאֵי
- שַׁתְקָאֵיm. pl. (preced.) preservers of silence (silentiarii, v. Sm. Ant. s. v. Præpositus). Ber.58a אתא תליתאה דהוה ש׳וכ׳ Vers. in ʿEn Yaʿăḳob (ed. כי קא שתקא) when the third division marched past, who were the silentiarii (ordering silence), he (the blind R. Shesheth) said, now the king is coming.
